Elderberry syrup workshop

Saturday, September 28th, 10:30a-12p at Wolfe’s Neck Center in Freeport, ME

Elderberry syrup is a delicious and immune boosting herbal concoction that helps to both ward off and speed up the recovery of viral infections. In this workshop, we will make a big batch of elderberry syrup as a group, and each participant will take home a jar to keep themselves and their families healthy this autumn and winter. We will also spend some time talking about how to support the immune system as we enter into the colder months.

Wild Medicinals:

A 6-month exploration into sustainably wildcrafting medicinal plants

The natural world is truly a medicine cabinet. Common “weeds” found in your backyard can be called on for food and medicine if you know how to identify, harvest, and prepare them. In this 6 month, outdoor oriented class series, we will get to know and learn the medicinal values of common garden “weeds,” wild flowers, trees, shrubs, and perhaps a mushroom or two. The focus of this class will be on building relationships with these plants through identification, proper and sustainable harvesting techniques, and medicine making. In each class you will make and take home herbal concoctions. My hope is for you to finish this series with a whole new wonder and appreciation for the incredible plant allies that show up just beyond your doorstep.

We will meet one Friday a month from 9a-12/12:30p on the following dates, and there will be suggested activities to complete at home on your own time. We will meet at a few locations during our time together based on which plants we will be talking about, and locations will be clearly communicated prior to each class and stay within the Freeport/Pownal/Yarmouth area
